Teresa Barbero – Flamenco dancer in Málaga
Career and education
Teresa Barbero began her flamenco journey at the Reina Sofía Professional Dance Conservatory in Granada, where she specialised in Flamenco and completed her studies in 2018. She subsequently furthered her training at the «María de Ávila» Higher Conservatory of Dance (Madrid), specialising in pedagogy, and is currently studying choreography and flamenco interpretation at the «Ángel Pericet» Higher Conservatory of Dance (Málaga).
First steps in flamenco
- In 2017 and 2018, he/she participated in various productions at FEX (Granada Music and Dance Festival), such as «Strokes», «Laidly Land», «The Death of Desire», «Ayres» y «More time than life». These performances were directed by renowned masters such as Antonio Canales, Rubén Olmo, Concha Jareño, Nani Paños, and Eva «La Yerbabuena».
Success and professional consolidation
In 2019, Teresa joins Irene Morales' company with the show «SOUL», released at the Granada Congress Palace. In 2020, he premiered his first solo show, «Primigenia», leading to venues such as the Almuñécar House of Culture, The Prickly Pear in Granada and El Majuelo Park in Almuñécar.
Later, she joins the Christina Pagés Company, participating in productions such as «The sacrificial move» —award winner at Málaga Crea 2020— and «Bellatrices». He also collaborates on the show. «Heart of Granada» from guitarist Pablo Giménez on his tour of Sankt Moritz (Switzerland).
In 2021, she became a solo dancer with Agustín Barajas' company in «Lorca's Land», with tours in Spain and Paris (France).
Innovation and recent projects
In 2022, he/she/it launches «Open Art», a circuit of performances in urban spaces with pieces created alongside artists such as Yolanda Osuna, Christina Pagés, Rubén Lara, Alba Fajardo, Borja Cortés, Eduardo López and Agustín Barajas. This project showcases his most innovative facet, combining tradition and contemporaneity.
